CAPS 2023 Photographer of the Year - Mel Bolin
I joined CAPS in the Spring of 2019 after some encouragement to join the photo squad for the Canadian Winter Games that year. I have always had a fascination with cameras since a very young age with my first camera being a cute little pink Concord 110. I since upgraded over the years through various cameras and now shoot mostly with a Canon 6DMRkii which I fondly named Shifu. I took some formal education in the visual arts program at RDP and enjoy using photography as a creative outlet. I enjoy a variety of styles of photography and love learning more. Since joining CAPS I have found huge improvements in my technical abilities and creative concepts. This past year I tried to challenge myself by being able to go out of my comfort zone and submit my images to more competitions and displays. It was with great surprise and joy to have received the awards for some my photographs this year and the overall title of Photographer of the Year!
